Antique Persian Malayer Carpet 4818 823 51562928, Country Of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Turn of the Twentieth Century – Extraordinarily elaborate throughout, this antique Persian carpet features an exceptionally complex series of borders with "writings /Signed", as well as an especially intricate allover pattern that populates almost the entire field; it is interrupted only by a large medallion that stands in the center – however, this medallion does not interrupt the overall complex nature of the antique oriental rug, as the medallion itself is likewise decorated with a series of fine floral and vine scroll detail elements. Indeed, this entire composition of this antique Malayer carpet is characterized by the complex nature of its detail work. The six beautifully worked and intriguingly proportioned borders give the carpet a unique quality: for while the entire antique carpet is riddled with beautiful detail work, the eye is still drawn toward these borders and the central medallion.
